Art Historian Thomas M. Alder has gained extensive knowledge during the past twenty eight years of purchasing, selling, and collecting art. He received his MA in Art History from the University of Utah after having served as vice president for Chase Manhattan Bank and Zions Bank. He retired from banking and purchased Williams Fine Art changing the name to Alderwood Fine Art a few years later. He has served on many art related boards and was recently appointed to the board of the Utah Arts Council by Governor Herbert. He was also just appointed on the board and vice chair of the Utah Cultural Celebration Center. In addition he teaches "Early Utah Art History 1847-1940" at the University of Utah and has authored forty columns on early Utah artists for 15 Bytes, an online art magazine.

On Gallery Stroll Friday, November 20th Thomas Alder will share his knowledge and artwork from his private collection featuring some early and some contemporary paintings. Works by: Gary E. Smith, Henri Moser circa 1925, Kate Starling, Karl Thomas, Jack Sloan, LeConte Stewart, Chris Derbidge.
